The mandate of the team is to identify, structure and monetize the cash flows of public sector and public sector related assets (including real estate). The focus of the team is on bilateral transactions where increased value added can be produced.

The group also looks for opportunities to expand Asset Based Financing into non traditional sectors either on a limited or non recourse basis as a way of diversifying risk and maximizing the return on capital of the portfolio.
Assets can be cashflow streams, pools of receivables, secured loans or bonds. The business provides an alternative way to source public sector assets as opposed to the traditional business of direct lending.
In most cases assets have stable cashflow, a low level of liquidity and a high level of complexity that allows the Bank to command a premium to plain public sector vanilla assets.
Assets are originated in the primary market mainly through working with DEPFA’s Public Sector Origination teams in various European Countries. To date, originated assets have come from the balance sheets of other financial intermediaries and corporates, as well as from Pubic Sector Entities.
The team brings considerable structuring experience along with investment appetite to offer a complete solution to clients.
Asset types:
- Receivables due from, or covered by, state or public entities or by the general
public (healthcare, taxes etc) - Subsidies or state supported/sponsored cashflows
- Guaranteed (or equivalent) loans to small and medium enterprises / mortgages
/ personal loans - Leases related to Real Estate or Equipment serving a public purpose
- Tariff related or Tariff-type cash flows (for example, landing rights)
- Trade Finance and Logistics
